These are just some helpful tips that will hopefully allow you to improve your grappling.
This week's tip is for the guillotine:

1. Once firmly in place the essential step in tightening the guillotine is close your guard fully and           extend your body.

2. In order to obtain full extension, drop your legs as far down on your opponents hips as possible without losing the guard (your legs should be extending and pushing down).

3. Next, arch your hips as in any armbar.

4. Also remember that in order for this to be effective you need to wrap the head without an arm in between them.

5. Lastly, this move can be modified to maximize effectiveness.  Try placing one hand (palm down) on your opponents shoulder, wrapping the other around (with their head to the same side), and reaching for your own wrist.  Your hands should be in a figure-4 configuration.  Now just arch, and push away with the hand on the shoulder.
